GrantIQ MCP

Eligibility-first UK & EU grant discovery, inside ChatGPT and Claude.

GrantIQ is a hosted Model Context Protocol server that lets ChatGPT, Claude, and any MCP-capable assistant find the UK & EU grants your organisation is actually eligible for — checking eligibility before recommending, explaining why each grant fits, and citing the funder's own page on every answer.

This repository is the install/docs home for the GrantIQ MCP server. The server is hosted by GrantIQ at https://grantiq.co.uk/mcp — there's no package to run locally.

Install

Claude (Code / Desktop):

claude mcp add --transport http grantiq https://grantiq.co.uk/mcp

ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → add an MCP server with URL https://grantiq.co.uk/mcp.

The first tool call opens an OAuth consent screen. Approve it, then — first time only — ask your assistant to "complete my GrantIQ profile" (organisation type, location, sectors, focus). Personalised matching needs a profile; without one, find_opportunities tells you exactly what to add.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
find_opportunitiesRuns your profile through the eligibility-first matching engine; returns top grants with a fit score, rationale, and eligibility verdict
should_applyOpinionated yes / borderline / no for a specific grant, with blockers, an effort estimate, and an honest competition_risk
explain_opportunityPlain-English unpack of one grant: what it funds, who it's for, hidden constraints, application mechanics, citations
searchFree-text grant discovery across 100+ UK & EU funding sources
fetchFull canonical record for one grant, with embedded evidence links
complete_profileSet up your matching profile through chat (organisation, sectors, focus, funding range)

Why GrantIQ

  • Eligibility before list. It checks what you're eligible for before recommending — no scrolling grants you can't apply for.
  • UK & EU in one place. 100+ funding sources (UKRI, Innovate UK, Horizon Europe, EIC, Wellcome, Arts Council, National Lottery, and 90+ more), with daily refresh.
  • Honest by design. Every answer cites the funder's own page, and competition_risk returns unknown rather than inventing a number when the funder doesn't publish one.

Built for UK & EU charities, researchers, SMEs, and grant consultants.
