This MCP server contains critical security vulnerabilities that pose significant risk. The code makes unauthenticated external network calls to a metering endpoint, stores sensitive authentication state in plaintext files in user home directories, and implements a weak/bypassable API key authentication system with fallback behavior that allows unauthenticated access. Additionally, the authentication layer is imported from a hardcoded path with a silent fallback that grants full access when the module is unavailable, creating a privilege escalation risk. These issues, combined with permissive rate limiting defaults (5-10 calls/day free tier is easily exhausted and incentivizes attack vectors), make this unsuitable for production use without substantial security remediation. Supply chain analysis found 5 known vulnerabilities in dependencies (0 critical, 5 high severity). Package verification found 1 issue.
