Blue Crane Forms & Tax MCP Server

To our knowledge, the first MCP server built for Canadian contractor compliance — and the first anywhere to combine contractor paperwork with provincial trades tax math in one agent toolkit. Built by Blue Crane Works, Hamilton, Ontario.

A remote Model Context Protocol server exposing 126 Canadian contractor forms — Ontario, Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba statutory worksheets plus Canada-wide site paperwork — with regulatory citations verified against the governing acts, plus 2026 contractor tax estimates by province running the sourced math from tradestaxcalculator.ca.

Hosted endpoint (no auth, no keys):

https://mcp.bluecraneworks.ca/mcp

Transport: MCP Streamable HTTP (JSON-RPC 2.0), stateless. Built as a single-file Cloudflare Worker with zero dependencies.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
search_formsSearch by keyword, form number, or alias (FLHA, form 1.2, hot work, tailgate)
get_formFull details for one form: fields, citation, free fill-and-print link
which_form_do_i_needPlain-language situations ("my GC hasn't paid my invoice") → matching forms
list_categoriesBrowse the catalog (WSIB & incidents, site safety, vehicles, finance, Alberta, BC…)
get_form_maker_passPricing for the optional Form Maker Pass (clean prints + autofill)
estimate_contractor_tax2026 income tax + CPP + take-home for a sole-proprietor trade, by province (12 jurisdictions, no Quebec)
required_hourly_rateWork backwards from target take-home to the hourly rate you must bill
hst_quick_methodCRA Quick Method vs regular HST for Ontario contractors, with break-even

Tax responses carry a dated-source disclaimer — planning estimates, not tax advice. Every form is free to fill and print at bluecraneworks.ca/tools — the server always returns the free link.

Connect it

Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → https://mcp.bluecraneworks.ca/mcp

Any MCP client: point a Streamable HTTP transport at the endpoint. Discovery: server card.

Clients that can only launch a local server

The endpoint above is the real server and pointing a client at it directly is always the better route. For stdio-only clients, the included Dockerfile bridges stdin and stdout to the hosted endpoint with mcp-remote, so the tools it exposes are the live ones rather than a copy that can drift:

docker build -t bluecrane-forms-mcp .
docker run -i --rm bluecrane-forms-mcp

Verified against the live server: initialize returns bluecrane-forms 1.1.0 and tools/list returns all eight tools.

Try it raw

curl -X POST https://mcp.bluecraneworks.ca/mcp \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"which_form_do_i_need","arguments":{"situation":"crew doing welding tomorrow"}}}'

Notes

  • The forms are preparation worksheets and on-site records — Blue Crane does not file anything with any ministry or regulator.
  • Statutory citations are kept at the level verified against the source regulation; guidance is not legal advice.
  • This repo contains the server code. The form compendium data and the sourced tax dataset are © Blue Crane Works Inc. and ship with the hosted server (registry: ca.bluecraneworks/forms, v1.1.0).

Built by Blue Crane Works — job-site software for Canadian trades. Hamilton, Ontario.
